I first saw Betsy Jones-Moreland in an episode of The Donna Reed Show a year before this episode of My Three Sons. I was fascinated by her from the get-go. She was elegantly attractive, poised, intelligent, confident. And, as “The Horseless Saddle” demonstrated, she had a flair for comedy. It’s rare for an actress to play madcap characters without me rolling my eyes and wondering why the protagonist just doesn’t slam the door on her. But Miss Jones-Moreland pulled off that difficult blend of being both headstrong and appealing.

I always wondered why she never landed a regular rôle in a series.
