If one looks at the first 3 seasons of the show, it’s possibly the greatest sitcom of all time. If you look at the first 5 or so seasons, it’s still great. But it went on for 9 years. It was an embarrassing parody of itself by the time it finally wrapped and, contrary to popular opinion, its creative dearth started well before Steve Carrell left.
