The idea that this tiny town would have a murder rate to rival NYC or Chicago is just unbelievable. If the show was built around her solving various crimes and not just murders it would have been a much better show.

The mysteries get a bit more formulaic for example. However other aspects remain consistent and some improve, the acting from the guest cast feels a bit more up to date for example.

The main thing that stops it jumping is Lansbury; her charm and watchability elevates everything.
