It is heartbreaking that the showrunners ultimately chickened out and didn’t state it explicitly *on screen*. They were clearly terrified of transphobia and a drop in network ratings, but making ‘Redarina’ an undeniable text canon would have been a revolutionary step for television. More importantly, it could have made the lives of so many trans people, their families, and allies so much happier by providing such powerful, high-profile representation. The idea wasn’t “stupid”. It was brilliant.

Also, it’s honestly hilarious (and sad) how people try to debunk this canon by saying, “But look at his love life! He had so many female lovers, he’s a total ladykiller!” As if trans men don’t have partners or active love lives in the real world? Plenty of trans men get married (including to straight women), and yes, some of them are absolute “ladykillers”.

Just because something completely shatters your narrow, comfortable worldview doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Raymond didn’t undergo a transition just to “wear a mask” for protection; it allowed him to step out of a suffocating lie and live his most authentic, joyful life as the man he always was. Red was a hedonist, he was confident, and he loved being a man—and that includes loving women (*and* men, by the way, as he tells Tounsend in “Nachalo”). It’s a shame so many viewers are too blinded by their own prejudices to see the psychological truth and beauty of this character’s journey.

He has been Reddington for many years. When have we ever seen someone who knew Reddington before the death of the original Red Reddington that didn’t also know Katrina?

Reddington was not Katarina. This idea is just wishful thinking by some who want some kind of fantastical explanation.
His interactions and behaviour with various people who have clearly known Reddington over many years just mean the idea of him as Katarina just doesn’t make sense.

I love this show, to the point where I know how to think outside the box that i know how constantin left after just a whisper! because of how tricky the show is, my final theory is : the season 9 and 10, its not actually reddington, its liz becoming reddington (wink)

It’s so clear from all the points in the main post and comments it was Katarina but if you’re really unsure then go on YouTube and search redarina 2 and the footage really sums it up so well. What a great character red was and was a job James spader did !!

Yeah, it’s totally fair to think the idea is stupid, but it’s just clearly what it is.

The kind of love and care that Red had for Liz is usually the type a parent has. Throughout the series, you can even guess that Liz is his daughter. Red hardly tolerated betraying, not disobedience like Dembe giving Liz the letter or not telling him that he found out Liz gave Red up. But even though Red was hurt by the idea of Liz betraying him, he still forgave her, and was still willing to transfer everything to her. Only a parent could do that comfortably and if Red is not Liz father, he’s definitely his mother in a sex changed role.

Yeah, I think even the people who argue that Liz is NOT Katarina have to admit that Red was CLEARLY Liz’s parent.
