It’s so obviously the Mork episode. What a stupid idea. It miraculously worked thanks only to Robin Williams, but I immediately wanted to see more of Mork and less of Happy Days. When Mork and Mindy was announced I looked forward to that and was over Happy Days.

what’s interesting about the Hollywood episode is that it’s the first episode to “threaten” fans with Richie moving on, as he wanted to become a screenwriter, which Richie would continue to want to be after leaving the show after joining the army. so Hollywood is both a literal jump the shark and forecasts when it did jump the shark, because Richie leaving was the big shark jump, but also Ralph leaving too.

Arnold’s burning down is just as good of a spot to choose, honestly. Just around that Season 6/7 point is when the show just went off the tracks. Season 8 and 9 were no different than 6/7, and then 10 was a dumpster fire.

As a kid, I loved the “Pump Your Blood” episode. For me–even back then–it happened in Season 7 when Chachi burned down Arnold’s. The new set was terrible–we traded a 50s diner for something that looked more like a fern bar combined with my grandpa’s den. No, thanks.

I would say HD jumped the shark either when Fonsie moved in with the Cunninghams or Chachi joined the show, whichever came first. Chachi was enough to drive me away from the show.
