Never jumped but the last season ran out of a little steam. Bea was righy but it didstill have good episodes

I would say when Esther Rolle left. While Florida made for a good adversary for Maude, Mrs. Naugatuck was nothing an unending crass punchline. Meanwhile, Victoria, the last housekeeper is a complete nonentity.

if there had been a 7th season Maude would have replaced a dead congressman and moved to Washington with new wacky staff. but ratings were so bad by then CBS just canceled it.

Someone most of liked the idea because they kept trying to use. Next there a sitcom Mr Dugan about African American congressman with same set up and cast. it was too get the plum times lot between All in The Family and Alice. there was some controversy and the show never aired.(although that same time CBS tried to get an audience on Wednesday with The Incredible Hulk and One Day at a Time, both bombed and quickly moved One Day to the slot between Family and Alice)

Then they tried Hangin In A sitcom with of all people Bill Macy with the same cast. it was dumped in the summer and quickly cancelled.
