I don&#039;t think it was a secret to Marianne Faithful or anyone like that, true, but otherwise, why would the general public know who it was about? The lyrics don&#039;t match Clarke&#039;s relationship with Faithfull at all. I really think this was (ironically enough, much like the Stones&#039; &quot;Wild Horses&quot;) a case of the chorus being by one guy and the verses by another, so that the only true connection is that the song was written with Faithfull in mind...and then used a different woman&#039;s name!]]></description>
