Today, we have an exclusive preview of a brand-new Archie character called Heartbreaker, the anti-Cupid!
This is Archie Sundays. Every week, I share a preview of the newest Archie Comics releases that week, plus occasional spotlights on the latest Archie news and whatever else I feel like discussing, Archie-wise.
This time around, we have an exclusive first look at a brand-new Archie character, the anti-Cupid known as Heartbreaker, who will debut in January 24th’s Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #347!
As I’ve noted a few times over the years, Archie Comics have long featured sprites like their long-time Christmas characters, Jingles and Sugar Plum. In recent years, they’ve slowly but surely introduced more and more new characters LIKE Jingles, only for other holidays, like the Halloween spirits, Trick and Treat, and a new trio of Valentine’s Day spirits.
Well, now we’re also meeting a brand-new “villain” known as Heartbreaker, introduced in a story by Francis Bonnet, Holly G!, Jim AMash, Glenn Whitmore and Jack Morelli, who was called to Riverdale when Sabrina tries to bring Cupid to town to get Jughead and Ethel together, and instead, she summons HEARTBREAKER, who actively tries to break UP couples!!

What a fun new character, and it is interesting to see that Archie has been doing a good job in recent years of trying to build up Sabrina’s Rogues, as it were, like with the Trinity of Evil. Heartbreaker is obviously more of a joke-y character, but it’s still interesting.
