In the most recent episode of Only Murders in the Building, Meryl Streep and Ashley Park did a duet on a touching ballad, “Look for the Light,” from the musical that Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) is writing in the universe of Only Murders in the Building (where he is adapting the play he was directing, Death Rattle, into a musical).
The songs for the musical are, in general, by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (of Dear Evan Hanson, The Greatest Showman and La La Land fame), but this outstanding ballad was co-written by the great Sara Bareilles (the award-winning singer/songwriter who also wrote the musical, Waitress).
Bareilles and Park were both part of the cast of the sitcom, Girls5Eva.
