  1. In Superman II, when Clark Kent lost his powers, he was told he could never regain them under any circumstances. After the phantom zone villains took over, he was somehow able to get his powers restored after getting his ass kicked at a truck stop.

  2. Star Wars: Episode IX where Rey and Ren start teleporting physical objects through the Force. It’s explained by their Force bond, but it still doesn’t make sense in the context of the movie or the series as a whole.

I think that’s more of a plot hole, Sam. A hand wave is if someone said “Oh, yeah, they were mistaken” or something like that.

Good one! The return of Palpatine was also a good example of a hand wave. “Sith secrets” was the best we got.

  5. I don’t know if it’s more of something without explanation in the movie or a hand wave, but Han Solo showing up was just one more “huh?” moment from that movie. To the best of my recollection, there wasn’t any information in the movie that explained Han’s appearance, but a lot of places online are saying that he was a memory rather than a Force ghost, which explains how a non-Force user appeared after his death.

  6. My take on the Superman II plothole is: the ability to restore his powers was always there, it was a misdirection on Lara’s (or the Kryptonian crystals?) part to see if he would truly choose love over power. Like he passed some sort of test, compassion and love was more important to him than having power. Then, once he learned some humility after getting beat up it was OK to repower him.
