  1. I experience anxiety in lots of films and if I want to continue watching without torturing myself I will read the synopsis to resolve tension.

  2. For me, it really depends on the movie. If it’s a movie I’m ambivalent about seeing, I’ll read a plot summary on Wikipedia to determine if I want to give my time and/or money to a project.

    If it’s a movie I am really looking forward, too, I do my best to avoid hearing or reading anything about it so that I can go in fresh and get the full experience.

  4. The McDonald’s comparison really stuck with me. I think it’s less about wanting zero surprises and more about control. I used to read the last page of every novel first, partly to see if the emotional payoff justified the investment. Sometimes knowing the ending made the journey more meaningful, not less.
